A Humble Beginning
Our story started in the year 2000. Biswakarma Jewellery Shilpalaya is a family-owned business. It was started by Sanjit Dhar in Barasat, near Colony More.
At that time, it was a very small showroom. Not many lights. Not many designs. Just honest work and strong belief. Slowly, people noticed us. They liked how we spoke. They liked how we explained gold. They trusted our hands.
"That trust helped us grow."
Today, Biswakarma Jewellery Shilpalaya is one of the well-known jewellery showrooms in Barasat. Many families from Barasat and nearby areas come to us again and again. For more than twenty years, we have worked with gold, silver, and precious stones. Traditional designs. Modern designs. Old styles but New ideas.
The Man Behind BJS
Sanjit Dhar started as a karigor. He did not begin as a businessman. He began as someone who worked with metal every day. He learned how to shape gold.
How to fix mistakes. How to be patient. He knew how to start small. And he knew how to keep going. From day one, he believed one simple thing:

Hand Work vs Machines
Many designs still start with a hand drawing. Just a pencil on paper. Then comes cutting. Hammering. Shaping. Polishing. Slow work. Careful work.
We still believe in hand work: In touching the metal, In giving it time. Machines can work fast. But they don’t have feeling.
Small differences in handmade jewellery are not mistakes, they are signs that real people made it.
