Our Story

From a small family-run showroom to a trusted jewellery destination, our story has always been built on honesty, skill, and long-term customer trust.

Family-owned legacy

Serving Barasat and nearby families with a relationship-first approach since 2000.

Craft-led foundation

Our roots come from hands-on karigari, metal work, and real workshop experience.

Trust over trends

We value purity, clarity, and customer confidence over short-term sales.

How it began

A humble beginning built on honest work

Our story started in the year 2000. Biswakarma Jewellery Shilpalaya is a family-owned business started by Sanjit Dhar in Barasat, near Colony More.

In the beginning, the showroom was small. There were fewer lights, fewer designs, and no unnecessary polish around the business. What stood out instead was honest explanation, careful work, and consistency.

People noticed that approach. They listened, they returned, and they recommended us to their families. That trust is what helped us grow over the years.

"That trust helped us grow."

Today, we continue to work with gold, silver, and precious stones for families across Barasat and nearby areas, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design needs. You can explore the full collection or browse category hubs to see that work in detail.

Founder story

The man behind BJS

Sanjit Dhar began as a karigor before becoming a businessman. That matters, because the business was built from metal work, patience, and repetition rather than from sales language.

He learned how to shape gold, correct mistakes, and stay disciplined through slow, exacting craft work. The business grew from that same mindset: start carefully, work honestly, and keep improving.

"Jewellery is not just decoration, it shows who you are."

Craftsmanship

Hand work still matters

Many designs still begin with a hand sketch. Then come cutting, shaping, polishing, and refinement. It is slow work, but it gives the metal character and attention that machines alone do not provide.

We continue to believe that touch, judgement, and patience are essential to jewellery making. If you want help choosing a piece, visit our contact page or read the shopping FAQ.

Small differences in handmade jewellery are not mistakes. They are signs that real people made it.
